On February 13, 2026, IF Copack, LLC. d.b.a. Initiative Foods announced the recall of some of its Tippy Toes Apple Pear Banana, a fruit puree for babies, due to high levels of patulin.
According to the FDA, patulin is a natural substance produced by molds that may grow in various fruits, including apples, and long-term exposure to patulin can cause serious health issues, including immune suppression and brain damage. Therefore, parents should avoid feeding their babies these recalled packages.
The packages affected by this recall have an expiration date of July 17, 2026, and code “INIA0120” as shown below.

What should parents do?
- Check the date and code on packages in their possession.
- Dispose of affected packages or return to the place of purchase for a refund.
In a statement to the FDA, Initiative Foods’ CEO Don Ephgrave said: “At Initiative Foods, the safety of our consumers and their families is our highest priority. We are cooperating with the FDA to ensure strict review and enhanced safety measures across all our products.”
