Two 20-year-old women are facing felony charges after allegedly assaulting an off-duty police officer working security at the QuikTrip store located in the 12100 block of Lusher Road in north St. Louis County, Missouri, early Sunday, October 11, 2026.
Shaniya Lewis and Nayonna Griffin were each charged with second-degree assault involving a special victim and resisting or interfering with arrest for a felony. Both are being held on $100,000 cash-only bonds.
According to a St. Louis County Police news release reviewed by ATM News, Griffin began throwing items at the officer, prompting him to approach her. Lewis allegedly intervened, struggled with the officer, and threw him to the ground. The news release alleges that Lewis then repeatedly punched the officer while Griffin stomped on him. Video of the incident also shows Griffin kicking the officer, grabbing his hair, and biting him.
During the struggle, Lewis allegedly reached for the officer’s firearm but was unable to remove it from its holster. Griffin allegedly continued pulling the officer’s hair even after responding officers arrived, then attempted to flee and resisted efforts to handcuff her.
The injured officer works for the Hillsdale Police Department and was providing security through a separate company at the time. He was taken to a hospital for treatment. A Hillsdale police representative told First Alert 4 that his injuries were minor and that he was recovering at home.
Video of the confrontation has circulated widely on social media. St. Louis County Police confirmed they were aware of the footage, and the department’s North County Precinct is investigating the incident.
